"Damn, where did that kid get to?" Ryan stood in the skimmer's lounge, hands on hips and looking frustrated. "If I were a pissed off sixteen year old ghost, where would I be?"

"Probably trying to peep into the men's locker room to get your twited mind off of things." Marcus was leaning against the wall in the far corner, as Ryan saw when he spun towards the voice.

The banshee smirked. "Fair enough. Allright, if I were Colin and pissed off, where would I be?"

Marcus's face instantly grew concerned. "Is something wrong?"

"No, nothing too bad", Ryan waved a hand dismissively. "I understand some toes got stepped on at breakfast. Sean made a mafia crack or something, and Colin took off."

Marcus groaned and Ryan nodded as he continued. "I wasn't there, so I don't know the whole story, but I gather CJ thought he was pretty distraught. I'd hoped to find him here, playing Halo or watching the Rugby Cup, but no luck."

"No", Marcus said as he frowned in thought and leaned against the oak buffet table. "Ireland doesn't play until Saturday."

"You follow it?" Ryan asked curiously, but Marcus grinned and shook his head.

"Not my thing, more into hockey, myself, but Colin was telling me about it. They're playing Austrailia, who is slightly favored..." Marcus' grin grew impish as he put on a mock Irish accent, "for no reason I'm after bein' able tae unnerstand."

Ryan snickered. "That sounds about right. I just wish I knew where he had gotten to."

Reaching over, Marcus tapped the numbers for an internal extension Ryan didn't recognize into the Nortel phone on the table. "Research Lab, Fremblee speaking."

"David, it's Marcus." The dark-haired skinrider leaned towards the phone as he spoke. "Is Mrrshan out?"

"Oh, yes. Your young protégé took him out this morning." The doctor's New England accent turned concerned. "Is there a problem? He does so well with him, usually."

"No, no," Marcus quickly reassured the scientist. "Just wanted to make sure he wasn't slacking off. Thanks, David."

"Certainly." Dr. Fremblee sounded relieved. "Oh, I wanted to go over the analysis of that strange substance you found at that poltergeist haunting last week, do you think you could stop by this..."

"Um, sure, I'll do that", Marcus said hurriedly. "Thanks again." He quickly punched the hangup button and grinned at Ryan. "There you go."

Ryan just looked confused. "Who is Mrrshan? And what the hell kind of a name is that?"

Marcus chuckled. "I've no idea who named him, but Mrrshan is a dog. A black lab, to be more exact, and Colin has been training with him for months now. It was with Mrrshan that I taught him to 'ride animals, instead of just people, and he picked it up like a pro."

"So," Ryan's befuddled look remained in place. "He's sulking, so he took the dog for a walk?"

"That's one way of putting it, yeah. Probably over to the Silver Comet park. It's after school, and we're having an Indian summer. There's probably a horde of kids and other dogs running around. Look for a black lab with an Orpheus tag on his collar." Marcus winked as he pushed himself up into a standing position.

"Now, I need to find something to busy myself with so I don't get sucked into a discussion on the chemical properties of congealed goo with Dr. Fremblee." Marcus shuddered.
