City of Heroes Information

Much of the information is out of date, for which I apologize. Most of it is still valid, but new material (since ~ Issue #3) has not been added. The Dev tracker continues to scan the boards, however, and remains current. Thanks. --doorslam

Is there any chance this game is going to raise the level cap to 60 or what not?

A chance? Certainly. Not what I would call a good bet, though.

1) It would be a tremendous amount of work (10 levels of content is a LOT of work.)
2) It would extend the leveling period only slightly, while alienating a large number of players who are level 50 who consider their characters build "finished."
3) You would not gain any power slots or power selections, which is what I think most people who ask for the level cap to increase would want.

So, yes, while there is a very small chance it could happen, it isn't really a great idea.

Ah cool.

I will say one more thing, though, BABs voice is not at all how I imagined it.

What exactly did you imagine it to be like?

The disconnect and no way to get back in feature should be number one. I'm surprised that the devs have never talked about some way of looking into that since issue 9 launched.

I'm surprised that you assume we haven't.

Honestly, just bugging it isn't going to do much good. I'm aware of this but have yet to get any reliable repro steps for it. Without knowing exactly what's going on in the sequencers that's causing it, I'm completely unable to do anything about it.

Don't you mean Jay? Or did I miss a personel re-arangement?

Weirdly, auras fall under the purview of the animation department. Always have. I recall Jay talking about that at one point.

Not that weird. Technically, the fall under the purview of the VFX department...which at this time just happens to be me as well.

Costume Auras are 100% FX/Particles...so they have very little to do with what Jay normally does. (Other than they go into the same costume menus as everything else)

BAB has been known to model weapons, but other than that I think most of the models are coming from Sexy Jay.

Oh, plus the new hires now. Whoever they may be!

Actually, Jay and I have split a lot of the work on custom weapons. They're technically FX, so much like Auras they fall under my responsibility, but he's helped out with updating a lot of the textures/shaders on some of the older weapon models, creating color tint masks, and creating some of the newer things.

All in all, it's a team effort. It would take entirely too long to break down exactly who did what.

Did anyone ever find out what tactics the devs thought people would use at the raids?

Originally, or for the newest itteration?

For the newest, the current tactic is similiar enough to what we designed around...you guys have simplified the coordination beyond what we intended, but otherwise it still meets our basic design goals.

For those interested in the Slow Resist IO from Winter's Gift:

In Info box

In Real Numbers

It is in fact global, and resists recharge slows by 20%. If you don't care about the other set bonuses, it's a nice use for those lovely prestige sprints you have lying around

It's flagged as Unique, though I didn't have enough salvage to try two to be sure.

I wonder if it has the bug where you resist recharge buffs as well?

It will resist any change to recharge speed that is resistible, be it buff or debuff. That's the way it works.

Yes, they are Unique, but the text does nto state it. /bug that!

EDIT: Ok, double checking, it looks like they DO have the test, but it is not displaying it correctly. Odd.

Like the pirate hook from the gloves costume set for dual blade wielders. Nod

Strawman!

Don't forget about how it looks with Thug Masterminds or those ATs that have access to the Assault Rifle. I love how the hook stabs right into the fuel tank on the franken gun.

Still, I love the Hook, the coin flipping animation never looked cooler.

The very second we get the tech that allows us to restrict one costume piece if another is in use, that blasted hook is going bye-bye for a lot of things. Namely Katana, Archery, Dual Blades, Assault Rifle, etc.

For a bit i was under the impression that Proliferation was more than just existing sets, due to electric assault and mental manipulation.

Reworking, adding a power here and there, or pulling some blast powers from one AT and melee powers from another to make a full powerset is one thing...anything beyond that is no longer proliferation.

By our wacky definitions anyway.
